Possibly even using void powers to switch places mid conversation during a cutscene to offer their perspective to another character. Getting to contribute each’s experience to the story as it unfolds. I think it would be cooler if Drifter and Operator retained their own personalities, and had a dual personality where you could hear them banter between each other regardless of who you’re playing. It mucks with who the player invests themselves in. The whole we-are-one thing is a necessity to make the game work imo, but I am not a fan of it lore-wise. And it makes a lot more sense for them to want to make a home of the Zariman because that’s what they know. They’ve had their own struggles and growth. They were presumably alone until the new war. They were uniquely touched by the void, abused by ballas, freed by the Lotus and given new purpose, then enlightened by Teshin, and they forge their own path.ĭrifter hasn’t had that same family structuring. They found a mother in the lotus, and brethren in their fellow Tenno, as no others in the system had gone through what they had. The Tenno found new life after their Zariman incident. The “this is your home” mantra makes sense for the guy that spent his life there (drifter) and not at all for the guy who lost everything there (operator). The Angels of the Zariman content (which I only just recently started) feels very Drifter focused. Needs a rework.Īlso to add to this because I was really tired when I wrote the first comment. I can’t get him to look like my character without looking like he’s 80 years old. But until then, it’s just operator for me.Įdit: oh yeah, and the drifter faces are awful. If it gets to the point that I’ve fully ranked every school, and there’s nothing else to do s as operator, and DE decided to move forward with drifter-only stuff, then at that point I will retire operator, consider his story complete, and start as drifter from that point on. For all intents and purposes they are a different individual so my switching to drifter feels like playing on somebody else’s account. While the drifter might be an alternate version of the same original character, they’ve gone through a completely different life experience to get where they are. Even before I knew of the details, it was clear that when we switched frames our consciousness was intact. I have a very strong belief in individuality. Drifter is new, so I’d rather it be reworked or expanded upon before I commit to it. ![]() Second, operator is a lot more polished as they’ve had multiple revisions since introduction. So I want more time with my operator, as I am not as fed up with being a child as some of the long-standing players are. You’ll start to venture through a derelict vision of the Ten Zero, eventually hitting the point where you sit down and have a meal with your Drifter.First, I haven’t been playing this game that long. Some cutscenes between Erra and Ballas will go on, eventually giving you back control of your operator. Your Operator, in this vision, will interact with The Man in the Wall, restoring power to the Drifter. The article will only discuss matters up to this point.Īfter running away from Natah’s attacks, she’ll put you in her grasp that sends your Drifter back into a previous vision following the incident aboard the Zariman Ten Zero. If you hit this moment in the quest and require guidance, you are free to look at it. Heavy spoiler warning! The following text will talk about crucial points in the quest’s storyline. Should you pick the Drifter or Operator in The New War? Here, we’ll discuss if you should go for the Drifter or Operator in The New War quest in Warframe. In the New War, we face a crossroads of decisions on two parts. Each choice does provide us with unique dialogue along the way and affects our alignment on a purity scale of sorts.
